General council meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month except for July and August.
Father Fred Cahill Council was founded on September 20, 1983 through the efforts of the charter members: James Bond, Frank Budda, Joseph Daniels, Paul DeCarlo (Charter Grand Knight), Paul d'Haene, Addiano Fior, John Haggarty, Joseph Haley, Thomas Haley, Joseph Hauer, Isador Hauer, Isador Hawryluk, Milton Huxley, Roland Jones, Peter Lamb, Douglas Louch, Paul MacDonald, Ronald MacDonald, Frank McLash, Daniel McRae, Patrick Meehan, Charles Merta, Daniel Merta, Les Misak, Julius Molaro, Henry Murzyn, Robert O'Neil, Dennis Poissant, Earle Ronald, James Schell, Lyle Scott, John Stevulak, Ronald Thompson, FrankTinevez, Rev. Joseph Toole, George Vandergucht, Fred Woodlock, Patrick Woodlock and Tony Young. Council 8471 has grown to 178 members in 2002.
It is named after Father Fred Cahill, who was a teacher, a volunteer for the Columbus Boy's Club and a chaplain for the Knights of Columbus. Council 8471 honours Father Fred Cahill for his dedication to the Catholic church and community. The Father Fred Cahill Council works closely with the
Holy Spirit Parish
in Calgary, providing funds for various projects and giving members an opportunity to be active participants in their parish and community.
