On January 21, 1985 the ladies of Holy Spirit
restructured under the guidance of Father Joe Toole and formed the
Holy Spirit Parish C.W.L. Council #78. Forty-seven ladies decided
to embrace the goals and objectives of the CWL and decided that
the C.W.L. would be a vehicle that women of Holy Spirit could use
to fulfill their baptismal commitment that encompasses the
Prophetic, Priestly, and Kingly role of Christ.
Our Council was formed from a group of ladies that
stressed hospitality and the new council decided that hospitality
would be a main focal point. Under the able leadership of Maureen
Hutchens, our first president, the council got underway. Each
president following Maureen left her own mark on the Council and
each year the Council has grown stronger. Today we have 150
members and continue to be actively involved in parish, community
and diocesan life.
