In 1981 Father Greg McLellan approved catechism classes for children in public schools. Children attended Sunday morning classes in St. Benedict School. In 1985 it was decided that because Sunday was a day of worship, classes should be held at a different time. It was decided that parents would meet every six weeks for background materials and teach their children at home. The program was called, "Sharing Our Faith". One year later the program was returned to the church and classes ran on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. When the program moved to the new church, classes were held on Wednesday afternoons. After that, the program developed into "Born of the Spirit", named after a program developed by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops. This program continues to run on Wednesday afternoons from 4:00 - 5:00 pm with volunteers from our parish community.
