33rd Sunday In Ordinary Time

The readings today speak of the end of the world and the coming of the kingdom. The bishops’ pastoral on stewardship says clearly that “that ‘life to come’ is in continuity with this present life through the human goods, the worthy human purposes, which people foster now.” May our good stewardship help us to be numbered among the chosen on the last day!

Witnesses to Love: “Sharing the Good News in Marriage Preparation” a Diocesan conference for all those interested in, or already involved in, preparing couples for marriage will take place November 24 - 25, 2006. To register contact the Life & Family Resource Centre.

1st Reconciliation 2006: Thanks to all the parents and children who have faithfully attended the Instructional Sessions over the past few weeks. Special thanks to the volunteers who have acted as catechists for the children. Without the dedication of these eight individuals, the program would not have been as successful as it has been.

Attendance at two of the four Instructional Sessions offered was asked so a child would be ready to participate in the Celebration. If that has not been possible, please talk with Virginia about options for supplementary work.

The following activities will round out the process of Sacramental Preparation for 1st Reconciliation:

1)       Sat., Nov. 25, 10:00 a.m. to Noon – 1st Reconciliation Retreat for Parents and Children. Two hours of prayer, activity, fun and learning that includes a “practice” of the sacrament for the child.

2)       Sat., Dec. 2, 10:30 a.m. to Noon – 1st Reconciliation Celebration – children will make their 1st Reconciliation. There will be several priests present, and parents, and other family members, are invited to join in participating in the sacrament, as well, to make it a family affair and a memorable occasion for your child.

Again, if there is a problem with attendance at either of these planned times, please contact Virginia to discuss options.

FATHER JACK’S CHUCKLE CORNER

"Oh, I sure am happy to see you," the little boy said to his grandmother on his mother's side. "Now maybe daddy will do the trick he has been promising us."  The grandmother was curious. "What trick is that?" she asked. "I heard him tell mommy that he would climb the walls if you came to visit," the little boy answered.
