BORN OF THE SPIRIT CATECHISM CLASSES:  Due to the very poor response to this program, we will not continue with the Catechism Classes for Gr. 1-6 (for children not in the Catholic System).  However, we encourage children to do home study.  Those interested can call the Parish Office to order a study package.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS Grey Cup Gathering will be held at the Cederbrae Community Hall on Sunday, Nov. 19th, from 3:00pm to 10:00pm.  This event is open to all members of the Parish.  Tickets are $5.00 each and can be purchased by calling Ric.

 

Feed the Hungry is looking for volunteers for the Christmas Eve Dinner. The dinner will be served from 1:30 to 3:00pm on December 24, 2006 at St. Mary's Hall. If you are interested, in helping, please call Donna.

CANCER MASS OF HEALING AND HOPE: Mark your calendars now, and invite others to attend our next quarterly Cancer Mass at St. Thomas More Church with sacramental anointing of cancer patients on Tuesday, Nov. 14th, 2006 at 7:00pm. The Mass is especially for cancer patients, families, friends, survivors and caregivers, but all are cordially invited to attend to offer prayerful support.

1st RECONCILIATION 2006: Thanks to all the parents and children who have faithfully attended the Instructional Sessions over the past few weeks. The final Instructional Session for parents and children is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 19 from 10:10 to 10:50 a.m. Attendance at two of the four sessions offered is needed for a child to participate in the Celebration. If that has not been possible, talk with the Pastoral Assistant about options.

The final activities in the process of preparation for the Sacrament are:

1)   Sat., Nov. 25, 10:00 a.m. – Noon: 1st Reconciliation Retreat for Parents and Children. Two hours of prayer, activity, fun and learning that includes a “practice” for the sacrament for the child.

2)   Sat., Dec. 2, 10:30 a.m. – Noon: 1st Reconciliation Celebration – children will make their 1st Reconciliation. There will be several priests present, and parents, and other family members, are invited to join in participating in the sacrament, as well, to make it a family affair and a memorable occasion for your child.

If there is a problem with attendance at either of these times, contact Virginia to discuss options.

 

Senior High Youth Night will be celebrated with the Jr. High Group this week as the office is closed on Monday for Remembrance Day.

Junior High Youth Night: The Sr. High Youth will be joining us this Wed., Nov. 15th. Begin with Mass at 7pm.

 

ST. JOHN AMBULANCE is hosting an Infant & Child Workshop for Parents, Grandparents & Caregivers from 10:00am to 4:30pm on Saturday, November 18th at Oak Park Church of Christ.  The cost is $35.00.  To register call Sylvia Gerrard.

 

Witnesses to Love: “Sharing the Good News in Marriage Preparation” a Diocesan conference for all those interested in, or already involved in, preparing couples for marriage will take place November 24 - 25, 2006. To register contact the Life & Family Resource Centre.

 

Children's Christmas Choir practices are held at Holy Spirit Church on Saturdays from 10:30am until 12:00noon. This choir will be singing at the 6:00pm mass on Christmas Eve. Children of ages 5 and up, who are able to read, are welcome. Call Bryana if you have any questions.

 

ALL SOULS MASS will be celebrated at St. James Catholic Church at 7:00pm on Thursday, November 30th.  All members of our Diocese faith community are invited to join together to remember and pray for loved ones who have gone before us.

 

Mass of the Angels - Remembering Our Children: We welcome all those who have been touched by loss in pregnancy, including miscarriage and stillbirth, to attend this special Mass at 11:00am on Saturday, November 18th at St. Michael’s Catholic Church.  Join us for Lunch after the Mass.  For those wishing to honor their children, call Carol.

 

CATHOLIC PASTORAL BEREAVEMENT MINISTRY is pleased to offer a Workshop titled “Writing Out of Dark Night into Lush Light” which will teach individuals how to access and write the words they require to speak of their grief’s uncertainties and fragile joys.  Join us at 6:30pm on Tuesday, Nov. 28th at the Pastoral Centre.  Cost is $20.00. Marriage Preparation The Life and Family Resource Centre are offering a program for those who either/or (1) have been previously married; (2) are marrying after extended cohabitation (living together); (3) are beginning marriage with children; (4) are mature couples; (5) are preparing for convalidation of marriage. Program dates are as follows: November 13th (orientation evening), December 1st  (evening) & December 2nd (9:30am to 4:30pm).
