PART-TIME PASTORAL ASSISTANT NEEDED: Holy Spirit Parish needs someone to organize Sacramental Preparation. This is a part-time position with varying hours, including evenings and weekends. Previous experience and a background in catechesis, as well as competency on the computer, are assets. Please e-mail resumes to pastor@holyspiritparish.net as soon as possible.

 

WEDNESDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY: Sr. Darlene Madore, fcJ will return on September 27th with part 2 of the Gospel of John.  Our regular studies will resume at 9:15am on September 13th,  2006.  Please call Agnes Rewucki, if you have any questions.

 

Summer Schedule

Summer Weekend Masses for July and August will remain the same. Saturday 5:00pm; Sunday 9:00am; 11:00am & 7:00pm.

Adoration Of The Blessed Sacrament for July and August will be from 9am – 12noon on Fridays.

Office Hours for the months of July and August will be 9am – 12 noon weekdays only.

Wednesday 7:00pm Mass: There will be no Wednesday evening mass for July and August.

Our Parish Bulletin will be published every two weeks for the summer months.

The Beverly Nursing Home Mass: There will be no Tuesday morning Mass for the month of August.

The Renoir Mass: There will be no monthly morning Mass for the month of August.

 

13th Sunday In Ordinary Time (Week 1)

Today’s reading from St. Paul explains the “divine economy” of stewardship — “The relief of others ought not to impoverish you; there should be a certain equality. Your plenty at the present time should supply their need so that their surplus may in turn one day supply your need.”

 

PILGRIMAGE TO POLAND WITH ROME “Remembering Pope John Paul II.”  Our Parish will be organizing this Pilgrimage from April 12th to April 24th, 2007.  For details contact Fr. Jack.  Brochures are available in the gathering area or the Parish Office.

 

RCIA MEETINGS:  Our regular meetings resume again on Tuesday, Sept. 5th at 7:30pm.  Breaking of the Word will continue on Sundays at 11:00am Mass throughout the summer, and it will be extended for one hour after Mass with a presentation by an RCIA Team Member.

 

FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION AT HOLY SPIRIT CHURCH

will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 15th. To honour this special Feast of Our Lady, besides the regular 8:30am Mass, we have scheduled an Evening Mass at 7:30pm in the Church to be followed by a procession from the Church to the grotto of Mary.  The Rosary will be prayed at the grotto with refreshments to follow.

Active Catholic Adults' Canadian Badlands Passion Play trip is on July 15th.  This engaging three hour drama brings the audience realistically into the life and times of Jesus and is performed in a panoramic outdoor theatre.  Show tickets are $25.00.  For more information email CalgaryACA@yahoogroups.ca.  Everyone is welcome.

 

Catholic Women’s League

  CWL SCHOLARSHIP: Applications for the $500 scholarship are available at the parish office or at the CWL bulletin board in the gathering area.   This scholarship is available to children and grand-children of a CWL member. We will be awarding one scholarship.  Deadline for the applications is August 15, 2006.  For further information please call Debbie.

Parish Mission Retreat

We welcome The Redemptorist Mission Team to lead us in a Parish Mission on Eucharistic Spirituality, at Holy Spirit Parish, from Sunday, September 17th, to Wednesday, September 20th.  Mark your calendars for this very special spiritual event.

Volunteer / STEWARDSHIP weekend

As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” (1Peter 4:10)

Join us on the weekend of September 9th and 10th, 2006 after all the Masses for signing-up to share your gifts of time and talent to build-up the body of Christ, our faith community at Holy Spirit Parish. Representatives from all of our parish ministries will be available to answer questions about the many opportunities to serve God through our community. FAMILY CONCERT:  On Thursday, July 20th at 7:30pm, St. Michael’s Catholic Community is hosting a family concert that is faith-filled and full of excitement.  This event is put on by Chat Productions, a Catholic family ministry.  Featuring a seven-foot talking Cat that can dance, play guitar and do tricks!  This is something that will leave you and your family refreshed and excited about your Catholic faith!  Advance tickets are: $30 per family or $8 per person.  Tickets at the door are: $35 per family or $10 per person.  To purchase tickets call.
